I can’t get into it, I love Adventure time but Steven bugs me, he is a moron. The show also does these little lesson learning things for kids and I would rather have full mental WTF with Adventure time.

From what I've seen so far he becomes less of a moron the more the show goes on.

Something about it bugs me, the preachy skinny gem lady, his dad is annoying. I hope Adventure Time stays around a long time. Too many cheesy songs, I am not a musical fan, the Marceline songs in AT etc.. are shorter and more rock.

Well from someone who watches the show all the time, my sister, everyone has flaws and the show is all about character development so everything is addressed.

I can’t watch it either and prefer Rick and Morty.

I wonder if kids today are perceptive enough to actually get the message. Like I know they hear the words...but does it strike a cord.

I’m a youth group leader and my church, and I am always surprised by how different kids of a particular age group are now vs. 10 years ago.

I help with my youth group as well. The teens vary, and the home schooled kids are way different from the public school ones.

I had one kid tell me how a friend of his punched another guy, knocked him out cold, he wasn’t breathing and they left him there. After the not breathing part, I stopped him and made sure he realized that was a horrible idea, and they should of called for an adult. I’m pretty sure he told a tall tale, but I emphasized that reckless behavior is dumb, and actions have consequences. Kids, am I right?

Yea, getting them to understand that there are consequences beyond just getting caught/found out etc...

I went to private school my whole life, and what I learned was that you had to be really good at conflict resolution. There was no avoiding people since you were in the same room with them all day, all year, etc.

I feel the whole period switching of public schools desensitizes kids to value of other students since such little time is spent together.

Not too long ago I had an epiphany: With the rise of cell phones social media etc. my self (and you), at lets say 16, spent much more time in my own head, when compared to a kid of 16 today. (this was confusing to write lol)

Scary.

With social media; ideas, thoughts, and logical reasoning is now shared amongst everyone now. Everyone has access to everything, everything is shared. The good and the bad. It’s why a lot of people, teens included, seem like carbon copies. That’s how I see it at least. People don’t think for themselves, or, they don’t think through things, they just react.

Plus, parenting. As a parent, I’ve seen various approaches that include just letting the teen do what they want. My parents disciplined me. I learned what to do and what not to do, and I did fear my parents back then, but Ive come to appreciate what they did now.

Personally, I refuse to look at parenting guides online or anywhere. I ask my parents instead, since I think they did a fantastic job.

Yea the react thing is what’s the scariest. We had a talk on exactly that last year.

I have no kids of my own, we’re planing for trying in 5 years. I both look forward to, and dread the challenge of raising kids in this climate.

You sound like you have a few years on me, but I was raised old school “by hook or crook” style as well. And we plan on following the same method if/when we get there.

Ha, I’m 29, and we one kid at 3 yrs old with we have another coming in two weeks (yay!). I’m just a really deep thinker, lol. Plus I heavily emphasize individuality; follow your own interests, regardless of what others think, and do the right thing, regardless if it’s not cool.

Also, I don’t believe anyone can ever be fully prepared to be a parent, lol. Our daughter was born 3 years after we got married. I knew we would never be financially secured or mentally prepared, but I really wanted my grandparents to meet their great grand child. I met 4 out of 8 great grandparents, and I'm glad I got to meet them, :).

Haha, well met.

I just turned 28 the 17th.

You do project that old head. But having kids ages the mind, I’ve noticed. Also our gen is the last of the deep thinkers.

Congrats on the second, 2 more weeks of some semblance of normal sleep!
